Intel buys license for Sweden-wide WiMax network

Intel reportedly paid $26 million to buy a 15 year license to operate in Sweden.  They are aiming to, and most likely will, make profit from selling WiMax-enabled computer chips that will be used in many products.  There are 4 other winners in the Sweden WiMax sweepstakes as well.  Check out the whole story here.

For those of you who are not familiar with WiMax, this new technology is supposed to bring internet to just about everywhere.  Imagine the small wireless internet network that you have at home being 1000000 times bigger.  From what I was told, this is like WiFi that goes on for miles and probably faster too.  I can’t even imagine…
