Obopay Favorite Finds - 12/04/08

Hi Obopayers! Here’s a sift of great reads, blogs and new services I’ve found recently on the innernets.

MORE MONEY TIPS
I recently published a blog post about holiday money tips. Obviously, that’s on everyone’s mind these days, and The Digerati Life blog is no exception. A recent post by Jacques Sprenger focuses on the emotional health and money, among other issues.
We must be strong enough to recognize that a lot of the money problems we encounter can actually be more mental than financial. If we keep in mind that every period of crisis can also bring with it potentially great opportunities, and if we’re willing to admit and address our issues head on, we’d be halfway to recovery.
It’s true — our emotions can get so caught up in money especially in a season that is traditionally all about giving. Read the rest of Are You in Financial Trouble? Money Tips to Cope With Hard Times.

BLOG FINDS - ONE MONEY DUMMY GETTING SMARTER
I’ve been looking at some personal finance blogs lately. I like Money Dummy because it tells the story of a family getting out of debt and making smart decisions about money. MoneyDummy (one hates to call her a dummy for being frugal!) also offers great tips — like her recent post about Walgreen’s coupons. Check out Money Dummy.

KALLOW: ELECTRONICS SHOPPING FOR DUMMIES
Now, if you are going to spend some money this season on electronics, visit Kallow. They’re a pair of helpful geeks who help sort out the crazy, confusing world of all that equipment out there in retail land. They ask: “Does the thought of buying a new camera or computer make you queasy?” Why yes, it does! Having geeks as personal shoppers in electronics is a blessing, although I wouldn’t ask them for advice about shoes.
We started Kallow because we have family and friends who are just like you. They care about what technology can do for them, not what they have to do for technology.
I like this philosophy. It’s sort of like Obopay — have technology work for you, not the other way around.
Right now, Kallow doesn’t have a category for mobile phones, but Caleb Elston, one of the founders, tells me they will in the future. I think it’s a great idea. There are so many mobile phones out there to choose from.

Hi Maria,
Thanks for the Kallow love!
We think that buying electronics is confusing and frustrating and that a simple approach will make it easier for most people.
We would love to hear suggestions on which phones people are really enjoying or find frustrating, since it will take us a while to review them all
Caleb
