It’s a new year so it’s a good time to look for fresh perspectives that can help us gain a prosperous outlook, even if times are tough.  So with that in mind, I’ve found some pretty cool blogs I wanted to share with you — everything from feelings about money to practical everyday advice.

THE SKINNY DEBT DIET

My friend and fellow blogger Stephanie Quilao just came up with an interesting concept called the Skinny Debt Diet in which she brings together a healthy discussion of four F’s: feelings, finance, fitness and food.  Some of us are afraid to deal with money and getting over that process is part of overall physical and mental well-being.

EVERYDAY BLOGGER

If you’re a blogger, you should definitely check out Stephanie’s insights on Everyday Blogger. Based in San Francisco, she shares her personal and professional experience with blogging — now three years and counting — an expert veteran in the world of online publishing.  Get tips in “Oprah” speak versus Geek language on how to best optimize your blog and make some extra cash.

CHA-CHING! SAVE MONEY NOW

Joanna Robinson, based in Washington, DC, gives great money-saving tips on everyday things like framing art for your walls to getting those much coveted carbon points — all of which will save you extra cash.

FINANCES DEMYSTIFIED

DeAndré from Texas takes a fun and funky approach to money.  The site is focused on Texas (it’s funded by a Texas credit union) but personally I think it’s great universal advice, no matter what US state you live in, and besides, DeAndré has a great personality.

Here’s a great video about whether or not to lease a car.

JUST FOR GUYS

Here are two great lifestyle blogs for the James Bond or the college geek in you … Bachelor Guy and Cavellere, respectively. Bachelor Guy has a very funny post lately titled 10 Signs You’re Getting Desperate in this Economy.

Cavallere isn’t buying this recession business: “From saving money to combing your hair, Cavallere will show you all how to save your money in this supposed “recession” (that’s right, we don’t believe it’s a recession).”

Here, here. I agree.  We all need to focus on our own prosperity!

TWITTER TALK

What people are saying on twitter about Obopay:

tweet from @lrknight:  @caustin580 did you get my reimbursement via @obopay ? I’m looking forward to a great 2009…I think this is the year!

Again, I agree!  And now more than ever is the time to use technology for our personal and financial benefit.  Obopay’s person-to-person mobile payments brings it all together.

Do you have personal finance blogs you like that have given you practical advice? Please share in comments.

Wowza! You are too kind. Thank you for the link love. There is such a strong bond with the finances and health that I thought it important to bring up and help others feel less alone or fearful during these times. It helps me too:) That’s what’s wonderful about the social web, there are so many kind and supportive people out there, and we all help each other :)
