Our CFO, Dave Johnson, had an interview with Fox Business this morning at 6:30EST! He talked about a bunch of stuff that’s very important to us, like Citi, our India plans, as well as Obopay’s future and global expansion. Check out the video here:
Adding onto the previous article about our product being secure, here’s another reason why you shouldn’t worry.
I am sure most of you have heard already, but we have been in business with Citi for quite some time now. Would one of the biggest banks in the world do business with a company that isn’t secure to begin with? Of course not! We literally went through a ton of security audits with them just to make sure that we are above and beyond the industry’s standards.
We announced about a month ago that we released this new feature that allows you to literally transfer money to/from ANY US bank. It’s about time we talk about it a little bit.
As far as I know, this is by far one of the most revolutionary development in the mobile money transfer space. We now have the capability for you to send money to anyone, regardless of where you bank. If you want to send money from Bank of America to your friend’s Citi account, no problem! If your friend wants to send money to you from their HSBC account, he can do that too!
This is similar to a wire transfer, one of the traditional bank features. Unlike a wire transfer though, this cost so much less. For a limited time, Obopay will only charge you 10 cents, whereas a money transfer usually cost at least $30.
Adding onto to the article that I wrote yesterday, we are really having some unbelievable press coverage this week.
“Citibank today announced that it will make Obopay’s mobile person-to-person payment service available to Citibank checking account customers on a trial basis. Citibank is the first U.S. retail bank to trial an integrated mobile payment service.
The Citi Obopay consumer trial will commence in summer 2008 and will allow Citibank customers to receive and send money from their mobile phone directly into or out of their Citibank checking account. New and existing Citibank customers will be able to enroll in the Citi Obopay mobile payment service in a highly secure manner through Citibank.com or in Citibank branches in select markets.”
